The most famous fences on the course are:

Becher's Brook
The 6th and 22nd fence in the Grand National, being jumped twice, Becher's Brook is 5 ft high from the take-off side but has a 7ft drop on the landing side and regarded as one of the most difficult fences.

Canal Turn
The 8th and 24th fence in the Grand National, the Canal Turn is immediately preceeding a 90 degree turn on the course.

Valentines
The 9th and 25th fence in the Grand National, being jumped twice, Valentine's is 5 ft high from the take-off side but falls 5ft 6in on the landing side.

The Chair
The 15th fence in the Grand National, the Chair is the biggest fence on the Grand National course at 5ft 2in high and the widest at 3ft wide. It has a 6ft ditch on the take-off side.

The Water Jump
The 16th fence in the Grand National, the Water Jump is 2ft 9in high with 9ft 6in width of water on the landing side. The only fence on the course to be less than 4ft 6in in height.
